Job Functions Management

Responsible for providing detailed project planning and management of strategic initiatives and projects within Fraser Alexander via the Special Projects Office (SPO). Drive development and innovation within the business in-line with the company strategy. In addition to conducting a detailed review of tailings risk, evaluate and assure control environments, and provide research and analytical support to the business and the technical division. The focus of support will be primarily Tailings but will extend to other divisions in the business.

SPO Project Management

Oversee and conduct a lead role in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing of assigned strategic projects in accordance with SPO project frameworks.

Ensuring management of the entire project scope, project team, resources, budgets and the success of the project.

Risk Management & Reporting

Conduct detailed review(s) of tailings risk, focusing on primary risks associated with a catastrophic TSF failure.

Identify the controls and mitigations by which these risks are managed within the business and provide a full evaluation of the control environment.

Capture and report each risk using the Fraser Alexander Risk Framework, ensuring effective management in line with the current FA risk management policies and processes.

Ongoing liaison with the Tailings Technical and Operational teams to implement new work practices.

Continuous improvement on the FA Tailings risk governance framework and associated documentation.

Assist and give input to tailings risk management procedures, tools and plans (TORUS, Quality framework, etc.)

SPO Reporting

Deliver detailed progress reports on appointed strategic projects.

Communicating and providing project specific information to EXCO and/or relevant Stakeholders.

Driving SPO awareness in the business.

Driving marketing initiatives relating to SPO projects.

Innovative Engineering Solutions

Research projects – Project lead and management.

New equipment solution – investigate, identify and R&D.

Risk management solutions – best practice, tools.

Marketing scoping – innovative solutions.

Commercial negotiations and formalisation of innovative solutions.


BEng (Hons) Engineering Geology & Geotechnics


5 to 8 years applicable experience


Excellent working knowledge of Tailings Risk Management
